Notes
Homemade Almond Milk. This is the type of milk that I personally use, however, you can substitute with your favorite non-dairy milk in the same amount.Protein Powder. My favorite raw + vegan plant-based protein powder is Epic Protein – Vanilla Lucuma, but feel free to use your favorite plant-based brand. Here are some protein powder tips:
Amount To Use: Since the scoop size varies between different brands, if you use another brand other than Epic Protein – Vanilla Lucuma, you will need to measure the protein powder by the tablespoon. You will need (2) tablespoons of your preferred brand to equal (2) scoops of Epic Protein – Vanilla Lucuma.
Sweetness: Again, since the sweetness varies between different brands, if you use another brand other than Epic Protein – Vanilla Lucuma, you may need to add additional sweetener. If you find the smoothie is not sweet enough for your preference, just add 1-2 Medjool dates (pitted) to your smoothie and blend well.
Quality: Protein powders vary in quality so it’s important to use a high-quality protein. The brand I prefer, Epic Protein, is organic, raw, vegan and gluten-free. The ingredient list for the “Lucuma Vanilla” variety is: Yellow Pea, Sunflower Seed, Pumpkin Seed, Sacha Inchi, Cranberry Seed, Lucuma Fruit, Cinnamon, Ginger Root, Vanilla Bean, Coconut Crystals, Heirloom Red Banana, Jerusalem Artichoke, Baobab Fruit, Himalayan Pink Salt, and Stevia Leaf.
Raw Cacao Powder. This can be substituted with regular cocoa powder in the same amount.Peanut Butter. You can use homemade peanut butter or organic store-bought.Maca Powder. I added maca powder for extra nutrition, but it can be omitted.Raw Cacao Nibs. I added these for extra nutrition and as a garnish, but they can also be omitted.Ice. If you’d like your smoothie with a “frosty” texture, add 5-7 ice cubes in with the ingredients before blending.
