Here's why this recipe works - my top 3 reasons:

    1. They are naturally sweetened
    2. Can be prepared in about 10 minutes
    3. Made with only 7 clean, real food ingredients

    They Are Naturally Sweetened

If you have ever had the pleasure of eating an authentic praline, which is a staple in New Orleans, you know it's nothing but sugar.

    Bad sugar.

And not only bad, refined sugar - but a total of 3 different kinds of sugar!

I looked up the ingredients for a traditional praline recipe and what I found was not good.

S.A.D. (Standard American Diet) Pralines Recipe Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups processed white sugar, 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, 3 tablespoons dark corn syrup (GMO ingredient), 1 cup evaporated milk, 1/2 cup butter, refined salt, vanilla and pecan halves.

Not only does it require 3 different types of sugar, but you will also need to cook the mixture on the stovetop and use a candy thermometer to make sure they crystallize and set correctly.

Can Be Prepared In About 10 Minutes

There's no stovetop or candy thermometer needed to make my easy praline recipe.

Simply mix the ingredients for the pralines in a food processor, then drop a tablespoon on top of a nest of pecans.

    That's it!

You'll need to place them in the freezer to firm for about 60 minutes but then they will be ready to enjoy!

Made With Only 7 Clean Real Food Ingredients

Traditional pralines are not plant-based because they typically contain some type of milk and butter.

This recipe is made with clean, real food ingredients such as Medjool dates, almond butter, coconut oil, pecans, pure vanilla extract, and Himalayan pink salt.

My healthier recipe is plant-based, raw, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, no-cook, no refined sugar, paleo-friendly and Medical Medium compliant.

    Equipment

    • Food Processor

    Ingredients

    For the pralines:

    • 1 cup organic Medjool dates (pitted)
    • 1/4 cup water, filtered/purified
    • 1 tablespoon organic almond butter
    • 1 tablespoon organic coconut oil
    • 1 teaspoon organic pure vanilla extract
    • 1/8 teaspoon Himalayan pink salt

    For the add-in:

    • 1 cup organic pecan halves (approximately 28 pieces)

    For the topping:

    • 1/4 cup organic pecans (chopped)
    US Customary - Metric

    Instructions

    • Prepare a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and set aside.

    Prepare the pralines:

    • Add ingredients for the pralines to a food processor and process until well combined and creamy.

    Assembly:

    • Arrange 4 pecans halves together with all 4 touching in the center (in the shape of a "t" or a "cross") onto the prepared cookie sheet.
    • Take a tablespoon of the praline mixture and place it on top of the pecans, repeating until you run out of the praline mixture.
    • Garnish the top with chopped pecan pieces.
    • Transfer the cookie sheet to the freezer for approximately 60 minutes, or until the pralines are hardened.
    • Store in an air-tight BPA-free container in the refrigerator or freezer until ready to serve because they will get soft and lose their shape if left out at room temperature.
