Frequently Asked Questions
Not always. You can find recipes that are gluten-free and then find recipes that are vegan, but "gluten-free vegan" is a unique combination that you have to actively look for.
But not to worry and look no more - the recipes at The Healthy Family and Home™ are both gluten-free and vegan!
My go-to substitutes for gluten are almond flour, oat flour, and coconut flour.
I don't like to use complicated homemade gluten-free flour "combos" that contains ingredients such as white rice flour, tapioca flour, millet flour, potato starch, xanthan gum, etc.
Yes! My recipes are loved by everyone in the family - especially picky eaters and kids!
If a recipe is "spicy" or calls for a spicy ingredient such as jalapenos, red pepper flakes, habanero, etc., you can reduce or omit these ingredients if you will be serving to children.
No! I do not use S.A.D. (Standard American Diet) sweeteners such as refined white sugar, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, agave nectar, etc.
I only use natural sweeteners such as Medjool dates, maple syrup, and coconut sugar.
I want to distinguish my vegan recipes from the other vegan recipes out there that rely heavily on ultra-processed fake vegan foods such as vegan "meats", vegan "cheese", vegan "sour cream", vegan "mayonnaise", vegan "yogurt", tofu and soy products.
Instead, I make my vegan recipes with real foods and primarily single ingredients such as fresh fruits and veggies, nuts, seeds, legumes, and fresh herbs.
