There is a lot of plant-based protein powders on the market, but finding a clean one with nutrient-dense ingredients can be hard.
The brand I prefer, Epic Organic Plant Protein is not only organic but raw, vegan, gluten-free, soy-free and is a complete plant-protein.
For example, the ingredients in the Chocolate Maca flavor are (ALL ingredients listed are organic: Yellow Pea, Sunflower Seed, Pumpkin Seed, Sacha Inchi, Cranberry Seed, Cacao, Maca Root, Cinnamon, Lucuma Fruit, Heirloom Red Banana, Coconut Crystals, Jerusalem Artichoke, Baobab Fruit, Stevia), and Himalayan Pink Salt.
However, you can always substitute with your favorite plant-based protein powder.

My healthy recipe is raw, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, no refined sugars, paleo-friendly and can be Medical Medium compliant with substitutions (see below).
Expert Tips + Ingredient Substitutions For Chocolate Strawberry Almond Protein Smoothie
Here are some expert tips to make this recipe perfectly:
Protein Powder. My go-to protein powder is Epic Organic Plant Protein and I used the Chocolate Maca flavor for this recipe. However, feel free to use your favorite plant-based protein in the same amount. In addition, if you need this recipe to be 100% Medical Medium compliant, here are some substitutions:
- Omit the protein powder + add 2-4 pitted Medjool dates
- Substitute with 100% organic pumpkin seed power + add 2-4 pitted Medjool dates
- Substitute with 100% organic hemp protein + add 2-4 pitted Medjool dates
Almond Milk. I like to make my own homemade almond milk with my Vitamix to avoid the additives and processed boxed milk, but you can substitute it with your favorite non-dairy (or dairy for non-vegan) milk. Another great option is Joi Organic Almond Milk which is made with 100% organic almonds.
Strawberries. You can use fresh or frozen strawberries and I prefer to use frozen strawberries so I don't have to add ice cubes to make it frosty.
Maca Powder + Hemp Seeds. I added these two ingredients to increase the nutritional profile, but they can be omitted.
Almonds. I added the almonds to increase the plant-based protein, but you can omit them or substitute with (1) tablespoon of organic almond butter instead.

- 1 cup organic strawberries
- 1/4 cup organic raw almonds
- 2 tablespoons Epic Organic Plant Protein - Chocolate Maca*
- 1 tablespoon organic maca powder

Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a Vitamix and blend until creamy and smooth.
