How To Make Gluten-Free Oven-Baked Pickles | Step-by-Step Instructions
I’m going to show you just how easy it is to make this healthy snack recipe in my step-by-step instructions below.
You’ll want to prepare a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper in advance and set up an “assembly line” to make things go quicker.
I like to have a line set up like this, from left to right:
- bowl with pickles
- bowl with bread crumbs
- prepared cookie sheet
To keep the bread crumbs from getting soggy, we will divide the pickle slices and bread crumbs into two bowls each – 1/2 in the first bowl and 1/2 in the second bowl.
Then, we’ll coat them in two batches.
Step 1: Prepare the Gluten-Free Bread Crumbs
This recipe is another healthy oven-baked recipe I make with my Homemade Gluten-Free Bread Crumbs, which takes less than 2 minutes to make.
Just add all the ingredients for the gluten-free bread crumbs to a small bowl and stir until all the ingredients are evenly distributed.
Feel free to adjust the seasonings to your preference.
Step 2: Coat the Pickles
Normally when making oven-baked recipes, I will dip the veggie I’m using in homemade almond milk, to give the bread crumbs something to stick to.
But since I used sliced pickles from a jar, they were already “wet” from the pickle juice so all you need to do is drain the pickles from the juice and then dip them in the bread crumb mixture before baking them the oven.
I used the Whole Foods 365 Brand Organic “Bread + Butter” Sliced Pickle Chips, which have a sweet taste to them but feel free to use your favorite brand or variety.
What Kind of Pickles Should I Use?
This is totally up to you and your taste preferences. I’ve used both of these before and each one tastes great in their own unique way:
- Organic Dill Pickles. Use these if you want a traditional 100% savory snack, as you would find in a restaurant.
- Whole Foods 365 Organic “Bread + Butter” Pickles. Don’t let anyone tell you not to use bread + butter pickles if you love a sweet + salty combination. The pickles will be sweet but the coating will be savory + spicy. Yum!
